I am excited about taking another group of Orlando moms to Israel for a trip of a lifetime. This is the 4th annual JWRP MOMentum trip that Orlando has participated in and my third. Nineteen local moms will spend 8 days in Israel as the beginning of a yearlong journey aimed at empowering them to improve themselves, their families, their communities and ultimately the world using Jewish values.
This year is unique because we will be starting our trip by attending the GA, the Jewish Federations of North America’s General Assembly, which is in Israel for the first time. We will be inspired as we join leaders, innovators and Jewish communal change makers at this premier annual gathering.
- Orlando visits Kiryat Motzkin in 2017.
- Orlando moms at Masada in 2017.
For last year’s MOMentum trip, we started our journey visiting Kiryat Motzkin, Orlando’s Partnership 2Gether, P2G, city. We visited programs that the Orlando Federation helps fund through the P2G program.
We first visited Mashma’ut Center for Cultural Enrichment for Holocaust Survivors. We listened to a Holocaust survivor’s story from an Israeli’s perspective. He shared the reasons he is involved in teaching students at the center.
We also heard from new Olim at the Sapir Absorption Center. We learned about the the process of making aliyah and the great care and time that Israel gives to provide easy transitions for these new Israeli citizens.

Fabulous. Have a safe and meaningful trip. Our links to Israel are but one aspect of our links to Judaism. As you bond with one another, I hope that each of you will gain the full measure of what is offered in the land of our ancestors. Enjoy the weather, enjoy the food, enjoy the people and treasure your time away from your daily routine.
