I am writing today with some very good news: Last night, in a 3-1 vote, the Maitland City Council approved the zoning change needed to clear the way for the sale of our vacant Jewish Community Campus building.
With this important step behind us, we anticipate closing on the sale within the next 60 days. As I mentioned last week, the proceeds of this sale will eliminate the remaining debt on the property, making us a debt-free Federation for the first time in a generation!
Since 2016, when the Federation set the ambitious goal of retiring the $4.5 million debt by January 1, 2020, many of you have supported our efforts with your dollars, your advice, your time or all of the above. The Harris Rosen Foundation and the Jewish Capital Alliance provided matching funds that fueled the campaign from Day One and put our goal within reach.
On behalf of the Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando, I thank you for helping us transform a most daunting challenge into a most rewarding triumph. Your generosity is truly awe-inspiring.
You have demonstrated how powerful the collective will of a community can be. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together next!
