Unplug for a day. There are several benefits from having a blackout day from all communications. Put your cell phone in the other room, turn off the news, and put the binge watching on hold. Free some mental processing power and give yourself some extra time in the day. Take this time to go for a walk and enjoy nature, breathe some fresh air, and appreciate the world around you.

Making little adjustments every day can have a big impact on your overall wellness. Our counselors are available to help you build your own wellness plan with healthy habits. To learn more about JFS Orlando’s FAMILY of services, visit JFSorlando.org or call (407) 644-7593.

CCRCs and Life Plan Communities vs. Rentals

CCRC stands for Continuous Care Retirement Community, and is the same as a Life Plan Community. Both are capable of providing a continuum of care, from independent living to skilled nurses and rehab. Some communications offer memory care, while others do not.

When your health changes and you need another level of care, CCRCs and Life Plan Communities are equipped to handle your healthcare on-campus. This is not true of most senior rental communities; while some offer different levels of healthcare, none are as comprehensive.

The disadvantage of a CCRC is the price. Most require a sizeable entrance fee ranging from $10,000 to $100,000. Moving out of a senior community is challenging wherever you live, but it is all the more difficult (and EXPENSIVE) to move out of a CCRC.

Beyond healthcare, CCRCs, Life Plan Communities, and senior rental communities offer many of the same services, from communal activities and dining to laundry services and more.

Whatever your specific needs, the Jewish Pavilion is here to help. For assistance choosing a senior living community, please contact the Orlando Senior Help Desk at (407) 678-9262 or visit www.OrlandoSeniorHelpDesk.org.
