As anyone who’s been to Israel will tell you, one of the defining characteristics of Israeli living is the vibrant and diverse cuisine. Israel’s culinary traditions comprise foods and cooking methods that span three thousand years of history, resulting in a rich culinary melting pot. Both local dishes and dishes brought to Israel by Jews from the Diaspora over decades of immigration, are now widely popular all over Israel.
Each dish tells the story of the Jewish people and their difficult journey, turning dreams of moving to Israel a reality.
Each week we will explore the story behind a significant food that originated from another country and found its way to Israel. We will hear the personal stories of those who left their homes and made Aliyah and learn with them the proper way to cook their favorite ethnic dish.
